In a squad-based extraction shooter like ARC Raiders, mistakes are costly. Getting caught out in the open by a drone sweep or pushed by a hyper-aggressive group of raiders can wipe out hours of progress in seconds. When a teammate goes down, your options are incredibly limited. That is exactly why the Defibrillator is one of the most vital support items in the game. It isn’t just a convenience; it is a literal lifesaver that brings fallen teammates back into the fight, turning a disastrous run back into a successful extraction.
However, you can’t just stumble into the wasteland and expect to find these medical tools lying around intact. Getting your hands on a Defibrillator requires prep work back in your hideout, a bit of luck, and an understanding of the game's economy.
Setting Up the Medical Lab
Before you can even think about assembling a Defibrillator, you have to invest in your hideout's infrastructure. Specifically, your Medical Lab must be upgraded to Level II.
Upgrading the Medical Lab isn’t cheap, and it requires you to systematically hunt down and extract specific engineering and medical junk during your raids. To push the lab to Level II, you need to collect and secure:
  • 2x Cracked Bioscanners
  • 5x Durable Cloth
  • 8x Tick Pods
Once you successfully extract with these pieces and trigger the upgrade, the Medical Lab unlocks higher-tier recipes, including the coveted Defibrillator.
The Crafting Recipe: Numbers and Nuance
With a Level II Medical Lab ready to go, the actual crafting recipe is surprisingly straightforward but heavily resource-dependent. To craft one Defibrillator, you need:
  • 9x Plastic Parts
  • 1x Moss
While 1 Moss sounds simple enough, it requires searching organic biomes or damp, neglected corners of the map. The real bottleneck is the 9 Plastic Parts. Plastic is a common material, but because it’s used in dozens of early-to-mid-game recipes (like Adrenaline Shots and White Flags), you will constantly find yourself running low.
It’s crucial to remember that Defibrillators cannot be crafted "topside" mid-raid. If a firefight goes south and your buddy is bleeding out on the pavement, you can't quickly open a menu and assemble one out of the junk in your backpack. Every single Defibrillator must be meticulously pre-crafted in the safety of your hideout and slotted into your quick-use inventory before you deploy.
Hunting for the Defibrillator Blueprint
Even with a maxed-out Medical Lab and a stash full of plastic, you can't craft anything without the instructional schematic. The Defibrillator Blueprint is a rare, random drop that forces players to search high-risk zones.
If you want to maximize your odds, you need to target specific medical loot containers. This means ignoring weapon crates and instead focusing strictly on white medical shelves, hospital cabinets, and medical bags.
Statistically, your best bet is to farm three specific locations:
  1. The Buried City Hospital: Pay special attention to the 3rd floor and locked key rooms, which feature the highest density of medical containers on the map.
  2. Stella Montis Medical Area: A high-threat zone, but one that regularly spawns top-tier medical items.
  3. The Hydroponic Domes: Good for both medical bags and the Moss required for the recipe.
To further tilt the odds in your favor, consider running Night Raids. Documented player data shows that drop rates for rare medical schematics increase noticeably during night cycles, likely to compensate for the increased environmental danger and aggressive ARC patrols.
If the grind against random number generators becomes too frustrating, you do have alternative routes. For example, if you want to skip the drop rates entirely, you can choose to U4N or look up ways to buy rare arc raiders blueprints from dedicated community trade networks and safe-zone players who stockpile extras.
Bypassing the Crafting Bench Entirely
If you don't want to hunt for blueprints or hoard plastic parts, you can rely purely on the safe-zone economy.
The vendor Lance sells pre-made, fully functioning Defibrillators directly in the safe zone. They cost 3,000 Shells each. At 3,000 Shells a pop, buying them consistently can quickly drain your funds, making it an expensive habit if your squad dies frequently. However, it’s an excellent money sink for high-level players who want to bypass the crafting loop entirely.
Additionally, keep an eye on your available vendor missions. Certain high-tier quests handed out by Lance, Shani, and Tian Wen offer free, pre-crafted Defibrillators as completion rewards. Saving these reward items specifically for high-stakes runs—where you know you'll be hitting dangerous bosses or heavy extraction points—is one of the smartest ways to manage your inventory and keep your squad on their feet.
